Either outcome

If the whirlwind of the hurricane
Throws me to the shore
Maybe I'll stand in the sand
On my two feet and
Walk for a while.

Or maybe I'll find my way
Into the eye
And float a while.

Either outcome,
I'm landing on earth,
Or swimming to the next world.
And you know what happens in both?

Limitless love and laughter.
The kind that gives you a side cramp,
as tears roll down your face,
when you can't hold it in.

The kind of love you know is true
When your eyes meet.

Standing there waiting,
At the old wooden gate of
Either outcome.

I-5 Drive

Every other Friday night.
Season after season.
Do you want to ride?

No?

That’s alright…

My steering wheel–
She listens to my conversations,
I’ve never said aloud.

She hears me when I sing.
And listens when I laugh.
She sometimes even tables,
The tears I let pass.

My hands she holds in place,
If she feels them start to shake.
Or, when they start to dream-
inevitable escape.
That desire to drive,
Day or night,
No end in sight.

My favorite high.

But it’s getting late,
And she brings me home.

Another day, another time,
Another every, other Friday night-
I-5 Drive.

Distortion

Things held sacred,
Sold to the highest bidder.

Time-
Auctioned for public praise
Space-
Weaponized for cunning control
Words-
Wielded for terrible power.

Here lies the burnt ash,
Of a diminished fire.

Upon leaving
Distortion's
Most absent liar.

Sun Kissed

I lay upon a bright green terry cloth mat that covers wooden planks painted the color of brick.

The rays of the sun cling like a blanket upon my skin. My breath catches from the warmth of its heat.

A straw hat covers my face,, and through tiny holes, the slight opening of my eyelids fixate upon dancing prisms of a multicolored display of a light show.

More than 5

Thank you for the quiet of the morning,
But also the chaos of the crying, hungry cat.

Thank you for the comforting reassurance of the rain falling,
The calming cadence as it hits the tin of the outside gutter.

The indecisive meows of the cat continue,
and though his belly is full,
he can't make up his mind as to whether he wants to face the onslaught of being wet if he goes back outside.

Meee-oowww, meow,
mee-owwwww
In he comes,

Meee-oowww, meow,
mee-owwwww
Out he goes...

Each time, a total of at least 5--
From seated, I stand,
Walk to the front door,
Turn the old, metal lock,
noticing the sound of its swoosh against the floor,
The creaks of its hinges as it moves into place.

There ensues the mad dash of the cat--

Meee-oowww, meow,
mee-owwwww
In he comes,

Meee-oowww, meow,
mee-owwwww
Out he goes...

How often have I, too, danced this indecisive devotion to You, God?

More than 5, this I know.

Still, there You are,
Opening the door each time,
Letting me in from the rain,
To the warmth of Your reassuring presence.

Thank you God, for the quiet of the morning,
The calming, comfort of the rain,
The chaos of the crying, hungry cat.

5/11

In a seated or standing meditation posture-

Inhale: Let praises to God,

Exhale: Be in my throat.

1 Sing a new song to the Lord.
Sing his praise in the assembly of godly people.
2 Let Israel find joy in their creator.
Let the people of Zion rejoice over their king.
3 Let them praise his name with dancing.
Let them make music to him with tambourines and lyres,
4 because the Lord takes pleasure in his people.
He crowns those who are oppressed with victory.
5 Let godly people triumph in glory.
Let them sing for joy on their beds.
6 Let the high praises of God be in their throats
and two-edged swords in their hands
7 to take vengeance on the nations,
to punish the people of the world,
8 to put their kings in chains
and their leaders in iron shackles,
9 to carry out the judgment that is written against them.
This is an honor that belongs to all his godly ones.

Psalm 149: 1-9

Inhale: Enter that rest,

Exhale: As God has said.

5/15

Inhale: Boldly approach,

Exhale: His throne of Grace (within).

The Promised Rest

4 Therefore, since the promise to enter his rest remains, let us beware[a] that none of you be found to have fallen short.[b] 2 For we also have received the good news just as they did. But the message they heard did not benefit them, since they were not united with those who heard it in faith.[c] 3 For we who have believed enter the rest, in keeping with what[d] he has said,

So I swore in my anger,
“They will not enter my rest,”[e]

even though his works have been finished since the foundation of the world. 4 For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in this way: And on the seventh day God rested from all his works.[f] 5 Again, in that passage he says, They will never enter my rest.[g] 6 Therefore, since it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news did not enter because of disobedience, 7 he again specifies a certain day—today. He specified this speaking through David after such a long time:

Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts.[h]

8 For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. 9 Therefore, a Sabbath rest remains for God’s people. 10 For the person who has entered his rest has rested from his own works, just as God did from his. 11 Let us, then, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall into the same pattern of disobedience.

12 For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13 No creature is hidden from him, but all things are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give an account.

Our Great High Priest

14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens—Jesus the Son of God—let us hold fast to our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. 16 Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need.

Inheriting the Promise (Hebrews 6:13-20)

13 For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he had no one greater to swear by, he swore by himself: 14 I will indeed bless you, and I will greatly multiply you.[d] 15 And so, after waiting patiently, Abraham obtained the promise. 16 For people swear by something greater than themselves, and for them a confirming oath ends every dispute. 17 Because God wanted to show his unchangeable purpose even more clearly to the heirs of the promise, he guaranteed it with an oath, 18 so that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to seize the hope set before us. 19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain. 20 Jesus has entered there on our behalf as a forerunner, because he has become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

Reflection of Light

In the early hours of morning--

You are my light.

The fullness of the moon displays
a physical reenactment--

Your reflection overcomes dark shadows.

A radiating glow resides upon water--

You cleanse my soul.
You saturate me with the Holiest of Spirit.

My senses only notice the boundaries of the light--
I pray: Lord, never let me go!

Yet, I begin to know that the space of--
Your light holds no end.

All human notions of time and space--
Your promise surpasses.

Your love is
limitless-
immeasurable--
infinite eternal.

The Ocean

Looking over Lincoln City

Lincoln City ocean art

Take me away to a secret cove. There we will hide from all of the world. There, we will love forever.

Can you hear the waves crashing? The wind was cold. Out on the water though, the birds don’t know. It’s only blue.

Tire marks meet ocean, ocean meets rock, rock meets the sky…and I’m on my way to heaven. But for now, this earth will surely do. (Pacific City)

Something about a purple flower calls to out a purple heart.💜

Here

Blinding light
Shadows of sight
Frequency
Wave length
Silence
A scream
Chains
Dreams wake me
Shake me
A thousand words
Never to speak
Electricity crackling
Travels unknown

Come, be here now.
